This blog entry is a shout out to David Martin (my friend Samantha's husband) who was our personal driver up to Park City for our snow shoe class! He picked me up, brought us Baileys on ice for the drive up even included the festive holiday mugs. This guy thinks of everything! We couldn't get him into the class with us - and he still drove us....and waited the 2.5 hours for us to finish and then picked us up again. WHAT A GUY! Thanks David.
The class was SUPER fun. Probably would've helped if I put my shoes on correctly the first time - but whatever. About 30 mintues into the hike I had some help in figuring it out. I kinda wish the terrain was a little less INTENSE because GOOD LORD I need to drag my hine to the gym! When Samantha yelled "We're almost at Base Camp 2" I realized at least I wasn't the only one having a hard time with it. It was a super steep hike. Poor Pete - the giant guy in our group...and my giant I mean he probably weighed 400 lbs. He had a rough go of it.
We practiced "skiing" down the powder hills on our snowshoes. I'm going to admit here that my 11+ years of snowboarding have actually done me a dis-service as I'm completely handicapped when it comes to trying to use poles. We had a great time, laughed a lot (of course) and enjoyed the full moon hike. I'm sad that's our last class for 2008!
