Smarty Pants

It's funny how I'm kind of going at life in reverse these days. When I originally went to college I was 18 years old and attending BYU, majoring in Public Relations (only because the rest of the majors seemed really hard!). I changed majors every semester. Anthropology, Interior Design, Education, I really stopped keeping track - as did my parents I'm sure. I've taken, and still not passed, Physical Science 100, PE120, Food Science Nutrition. And yes - I took them each 3 times! haha. PE was a gimme course, you just had to remember to actually take the tests. I got better things to do! My only A's were: Calligraphy and Self Defense (ya Holly!). I had fun with friends, but was MISERABLE going to school there. They say it's not for everyone - and well...that person was me! They finally asked me to leave.

Next up: Weber State University in glorious (cough) Ogden, UT. If you can major in snowboarding there - you bet your cute little hiney that's what I did. I went snowboarding every week and loved every possible second of it. Had okay friends, was VERY outdoorsy and found my inner hippy there.

Now, at age 31 I've decided to go back to school. Because after all that education - I'm pretty sure I'm still a Freshman! If SLCC had a fight song - I'd be piping into my blog. haha. Actually I'll just go for a bit - finish up my generals and then transfer to the U of U for Marketing. I mean I do that for work anyway - I might as well get a degree in it right? haha. In truth, I always felt like I was wasting my time in school because I never actually knew what I wanted to do. I'm not the type to just do things willy nilly (aka - for no good reason). I need definition in things and I finally have it. It's kinda nice to realize what you wanna do when you grow up. Some people, it just takes a little longer!

Sadness

This story about a young girl that was reported missing yesterday happened right near my work. Literally 1.5 blocks away. Today while working we watched as volunteers wandered in search of this girl. The church where the headquarters was was directly across the street from my office. The FBI came in to search the office to be sure she hadn't hidden there. Just on the news, they just revealed she has been found dead in an apt not far from her home. (like 2 doors down). I'm actually horribly saddened by the reality of it all. You see it on the news, and it's always sad, but I watched the efforts take place today. This is actually quite hard to accept.

WOW!

Okay, so tonight watching American Idol...I caught myself saying that twice. WOW! I'm going to be crucified by Lindsay if he reads this post. We had a LONG conversation on the drive home from Niagara about this kid. While I don't consider myself a fan - for the most part - his performance tonight was incredible. This is not it - but the fact that the backup singer in the background is wiping tears from her eyes - just goes to show how powerful his voice can be. While I agree with Lindsay that the Disney Channel should nab him up quickly because of his voice and fresh/innocent face - For tonight, April Fools night, he was my favourite. (oh - the other fav...was Carly Smithson. The Irish girl. AMAZING!)

Back from Toronto

This trip was SO much fun! I met some totally great people while up there!
Janelle, Matt, Justin and I were inseperable for most of the time. Everyone thought we were like best friends, when in reality we had just met. I love meeting people like that. That are just cool and So easy to get along with.

So here was the schedule:
Wed - basically flying all day. Sitting by Layle was SO great. She's the perfect person to get seated by on a long flight. Small chat in the beginning of the flight. As soon as you're safely allowed to use portable devices...DONE. We both plugged into iPods and read the rest of the way. Plus she's really nice and Vicki always talks to me about her like I should know her - and now I do! Thanks Layle! Renting the car, and nearly killing everyone in the car a couple times on the way to the hotel! haha. It's hard to listen to the navigation and talk to everyone and try to realize how many kilometers away things are, etc. Then went to the warehouse to set up the booth.

Thursday - 7am (5am my time) had to get up to do make & takes in the lobby of the hotel for the stores that were there. My class was 8-9:30 and it went SO well. YAY! I got invited out by a couple of stores there to come teach in their stores! I say sure - if you're going to pay my way! haha. Then at 10am - I was done for the day. We had lunch at the hotel, and then Lindsay & Julie from Cosmo Cricket and Matt from BoBunny hopped in the car to Niagara. It was the first time meeting Matt and he's a chatty boy - but really funny and kick back. Here are some pictures from that trip:

Then we got back just in time to "freshen up" and go to the dinner with a special guest speaker. Everyone was supposed to wear Pink because the woman was talking about her breast cancer experience. Pictures of the gang all fancy: (the first guy was this guy that was HILARIOUS! and offered to have me come up to Victoria BC to teach in his store. He was all pimped out in pink. Even wearing ladies pink socks. SO GREAT! The rest are Justin & I, and then Janelle, Justin, Matt & I. I love that the boys wore pink feather boas!)

That night we (above 4) went to Walmart to load up on Canadian items: Katchup chips by Humpty Dumpty (sick!), Dill Pickle chips (delish!) and their chocolate/candy items we heard about all day! Plus we checked through the self checkout in French! Pretty funny because none of us speak Francois and it took us about 10 minutes to figure out we were swiping our cards in the wrong spot. Then we had a P.J. Party in my room and watched 3:10 to Yuma which was really not that fantastic...but fun just to relax and laugh and be silly.

Friday was a day in the warehouse selling. It was still really fun and totally laid back. I sold a lot and got a really good order just emailed to me from the distributor, so I figure my work was solid and meant I could leave at 3pm! haha. So we did! Janelle had to leave early to catch her flight so it was just me and the boys Friday night. We TOTALLY missed her! Dinner at this place called Montana's. I nearly died of laughing when we asked our waiter what there was fun to do there (we had already established with him that we were from the states) and he suggested the Fajitas. HAHA! Also it was this lady's b-day at the restaurant and they made her wear this hat while they sang to her and clapped:

Driving around was fun. We saw the temple - which looked like all the other ones. Then we had another P.J. Party - again in my room and watched The Mist - which was THE WORST FILM EVER! but good to laugh about!

Justin left early Sat morning, Matt changed his flight to mine and we played "who would you rather" most of the way home! His toughest one "Elton John or Richard Simmons" (he chose Elton). haha. And now I'm home and already missing the PJ parties! Oh well. It was a REALLY fun trip! Also got to see some of my Fav people. Miss Vickie looked cute as ever and told the best, most elaborate stories at dinner! Love that girl! Hope you all had great weeks too! I think you're officially all caught up on mine now!

Oh Canada....

I'm off to Toronto in the morning! My company has a distributor up there that is having an event. I'll be flying all day tomorrow, setting up my class. Thursday will be teaching my class on how to market product to the Canadian market and then....FREE DAY! I've asked my FAVS (Lindsay & Julie) from Cosmo Cricket to come to Niagara Falls with me for the rest of the day. Should be a good time and I'll try to take lots of pictures. My first sign of Spring

I'm loving this weather, which the JERK weather man said today wasn't going to last. Well just to pee in his Cheerios - I believe Spring has Sprung at my house and here's why.Ducks in my swimming pool yesterday. They're just getting the water ready for me! Thanks guys!
